The Short Dance Studios was established in 1965 by Pat Short.  She retired in 1991 and handed the studio over to Dan Englin who ran the “Dance Dance Dan’s” dance studio for 5 years. Dan passed away in 1996 after expanding to two studios, one in Inver Grove Heights, MN and one in New Richmond, WI.  Two of his main teachers at the time were Wade Short and Jessica Skalicky who then took over the operations of the studios.

The Inver Grove studio became “WS Dance” and the New Richmond studio became “Studio 96”.  Wade and Jessica were married in 1999 and then joined the studios to incorporate to become the “Short Dance Studios” in 2000.  Together they have grown the studios’ enrollment and programs to an unprecedented level.

A new facility was purchased in New Richmond in 2003 and renovated to a spacial 6500 square foot dance facility with two dance rooms and one music/dance room. They have now torn down that building and put up an amazing 10000 square foot facility with four dance rooms and 2 music rooms.

In 2007 they started the development of a new facility in Inver Grove Heights, which after long hours and hard work they have now completed a 9000 square foot facility with the capability of 5 dance rooms and 2 music/voice rooms.

Jessica and Wade have recently expanded their programs and the facilities to become the “Short Dance Studios for the Performing Arts” where they offer classes in Dance, Music/Voice, Theatre and facility rental.

Their programs offer quality education, a caring environment, and affordable prices for the development of the arts in the communities.
